About Me

Valerie Dawn Stevenson ( Vala Dawn)

I am originally from the hills of Tennessee and raised in the country side, far away from the city lights.  My earliest memories of life were from the farm. Following my Nana around on the "look out" for cows ready to give birth, watching the caring for all the animals, picking from the garden and caring for the land.

Why would anyone leave such an abundant peaceful environment? Visions of far away lands to learn of their wisdom's, an expansive undiscovered  world. Insights into the other ways of life in other countries were in my dreams. There was a sense of more to explore, teachers and experiences. Native elders speak of the wisdom's speaking to us through nature. Lizard medicine has always spoken to me quite loudly~Dream your reality! So I went out to seek out my life in my way.

Later I met a wonderful man who operated a private gym and had studied health extensively from the all angles.  This brought me to learn about Chi Gong and the works of Mantak Chia, Sparring, Emotional Techniques and much more from the eastern philosophies.  Along with prior trips to Japan, land of my dreams, learning their ways of daily life was the pre-training towards massage school & Life Energy Institute.
.
The city brought teachers for whom I am grateful and have been part of my evolution, in all shapes, forms and situations. The depth from which the city led is still penetrating and further moving me forward and more from the center. My first out of the country adventure was the Pyramids of Tulum and the Mayan lands. After college with a BS in Human Environmental Sciences, I left to Los Angeles.
Kyoto, Japan
Following the city lights continued later to France and London, all of which were soul satisfying beyond sight. Learning to be in the heart and living by intuition led me to leave  LA to  Santa Barbara.  This stage of life was the true actualization of inner talents unlocked. The east energies are forever changing how I connected with myself and others.
Continuing the journey of "walk-thy-way" sent me thousands of miles away to the heart of rebirthing and transformation of the emotional state, Hawai'i.
Learning to be with myself, stepping outside with the "observer" and becoming better at inquiry. Inquiry through, The Diamond Heart Approach, really allowed me to be with "what is" in love. I had always carried this ability to remain vulnerable beyond life's more challenging teachings, yet with full acceptance and love deeply was the "skipped step". No longer is there a need to deny any experience.

Now my path has come full circle, back to nature which has always been a big part of the essence of what I bring to share. The Goddess energies of Hawai'i reconnected me to thy roots from which had been severed from life's conditions. I dedicate daily to her by using the ancient words of the Hawaiians, Aloha Nui~~

Wind Horse Woman

The winds
Lift us out of remembrance
and into discovery.
The earth begs us

to go outside
like a woman

who has no home
and would ride

some elegiac
dream

into a first heaven
if she could only find

the path.
No one sees the main road any more.

The winds come.
The horse at the edge of the mind

turns to face us
like thunder.
